Steve,

It was not my first time out of the US. I've been to many islands in the Caribbean (St. Thomas, St. Johns, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Guadeloupe, etc, and recently to Aruba) and found that most prices at Marsh Harbour were really high. I do understand that almost everything must be imported but the prices seemed very high when compared to other islands that also import everything.

One thing I wondered is how do the local people sustain themselves at these prices? From what I saw, everything revolves around the tourism industry but even then, does that tourism industry provide such a high income to locals? The stuff I am talking about is food that everyone eats, nothing fancy (ham, eggs, milk, bread, etc.).

Again, I am not complaining about the island or the people but just making a point about the cost of living there (even if just for a 4 day vacation). I really enjoyed my stay there but think that prices were high.

FM
