I'm interested in knowing who received any penalties, fines, etc.? Who had their aircraft or their cargo seized by Customs recently? Anyone go to jail? Did anyone receive any written repremand, admonishment, or written warning? Were there any computer records generated? Perhaps the Customs Inspectors were informing these pilots of their FAA and Department of Commerce OBLIGATIONS, and when they did so, some Prima-donna pilots got their feelings hurt and embellished this entire thread about how they were "harassed". Its time for some of these crybabies to grow up. What do they think is the role of Customs anyway? Do you truly believe that the U.S. government is so unreasonable to think that people are not going to help out the less fortunate in the Bahamas? You have to realize that some Pilots are opportunists - U.S. history calls these individuals "carpetbaggers". There will come a point in time, when this relief effort concludes and Part 91 pilots will not be given leeway anymore by Customs and the FAA to carry cargo for hire - even if it is relief goods. At that time, if they continue to carry cargo as a Part 91 flyer, they are taking business away from the legitimate Part 135 carriers. What then? I think that the Part 135 Charter companies will want the government to remind these private flyers to stop. I think Customs is doing these folks a giant favor, by telling them now so when that day comes there won't be any tears.
