I don't believe the Commonwealth and the UK are the same thing. As I understand it, the United Kingdom is England, and the group of islands that surround it... (I'm fairly geographically challenged, but I believe it includes Wales, Scotland, etc...) The Commonwealth is countries that are (or were at one time???)under British Rule... Canada, for example, is part of the Commonwealth, but we are independent from England today. We are not part of the United Kingdom.

How's that? Clear as mud?? :)
