wow!! quite the thread we have going here. I didn't think this was such a "pot stirring" query!! Be civil people, I hate reading ignorant replies. being a member of the British Commonwealth has nothing at all to do with being part of the UK. We here in Canada as well as the Bahamas and many other independent countries that were once part of the British Empire are simply members of the commonwealth. The Queen and the British Government have no power over the governments of the independent member countries. Its completely ceremonial. Cheers!!
