Dear Treasure Cay Property Owner,

As you know, hurricane Floyd caused major damage to our beloved Treasure Cay and the surrounding local communities. An emergency fund has been established by Wardy Thompson and the response has been fantastic. These funds are being distributed now.

Riding around Treasure Cay, it is evident that the Casuarina trees which are blown down are a terrible hazard. Fire, rodents, and the overall visual effect are absolutely depressing.

Noel Lister and Wardy Thompson have contacted Treasure Cay about clean-up. This has resulted in an agreement to contract with a reputable US company. This company will bring in heavy equipment capable of grinding up large trees and stumps. The contract includes six operators and one foreman, as well as all labor and maintenance of equipment. Enclosed is a picture of the type of equipment to be used. The length of time of the contract is ten weeks plus any down time on the equipment.

The contract price is approximately $450,000. Treasure Cay has agreed to pay $210,000. We, as property owners, will raise the balance. Craig Roberts, the developer of Bahamas Beach Club, has agreed to transport all equipment from Florida to Treasure Cay and back using his barge at his expense.

It has been almost three months since Floyd. The recovery has been amazing! However, there is still much to be done.

This donation to the Treasure Cay Community Clean-Up Fund will be used for the cost of the heavy equipment clean up. If for any reason we are unable to contract with a reputable firm, all monies will be returned. Any funds remaining after the clean up will be used for side road landscaping.
