If you are going to buy land in the Bahamas, you would be well off to buy Title
Insurance. As large amounts of land have been handed down from generation to
generation within the family, there is often no one person who is able to give clear title to land. There was a lawyer in HT, Foster Clarke, who had spent seven years searching for all the heirs to a parcel of land a client wanted to purchase. The last heir to the property who needed to sign off was found in Denver, Colorado. If you do not have Title Insurance, some obscure heir can come out of the woodwork years later and claim the land you rightfully thought was yours. Welcome to buying land in the Bahamas!!!!!!
