Hey Gary,

The flies we have the best luck on for bonefish are the Brewer's Amber, Del's Merkin, Squimp, Jim's Goldeneye, Gotcha, and Bird's Gonefish Fly (all in size 4). For barracuda we use Clouser Minnows and Gotchas with an 8" wire bite guard.

Trying to find bones on the east side by yourself is a tough proposition. Your rental boat won't float in the areas where bonefish are most likely to be. Your best bet is to anchor your boat and wade but it's tough going with little probability of sighting bones. Cudas are fairly easy to find and are a blast on a fly rod. You can also fish for bones using spin tackle and shrimp but it's not as fun. Either way have fun!

Good luck and keep a tight line!
