Here is the true standard required for U.S. Citizens entering the Bahamas.
What is required is that you have some form of ID. This takes several forms.
Here are the documents needed:

1. Passport - or

2. Drivers Licence & Voters Card - or

3. Drivers Licence & Birth Certificate

In other words, if you don't have a passport, a picture id such as Drivers
Licence, and an official document such as a birth certificate or voters card
linking your citizenship to your country are required.

That is the requirements from the Bahamas government.
