Gary,
We started trolling as soon as we hit the blue water, and went out up to 10 miles. Most Dolphin in pretty close, Tuna and Billfish were 5 miles out.
We pulled flathead and bullethead lures with and without ballyhoo.
The bait did not seem to make much difference, caught most of our fish on top on the short lines with smokers and no bait. Follow the birds and you will do just fine. We trolled at 8 to 10 kts. and did quite well.
Good luck, have fun and put some back for next time.
I hope everyone will release all billfish to breed and fight again.
