A partial answer. Yes...you can make New Plymouth on a day trip by boat but you will want to bring a chart and do it on a relatively calm day. Nippers will be about a 20 minute ride...or so. Don't know why the advice on bringing meats as the supply at Golden Harvest is ample, pretty fair quality and not too outrageous as Abaco prices go...but everyone that posts on this board has their own opinion. We only carry our own coffee. Enjoy. Oh...you will be hot but the paddle fans should help and the temp usually drops at night. No need to bring your flannel jammies for sure.
