My Take On Nippers

Posted by Steve Rutledge on June 02, 2000 at 09:01:08:

I have been to Nippers, twice. The first time I went at the behest of an infrequent Abaco visitor who said I "had to see it." I will say that the view is incredible and the concept is excellent. However, on the day that I was there, the staff could not handle the customers. The waitress was snotty and it took forever to get our food. The only people having fun were those who were intoxicated and that was about 50% of the patrons. I didn't pass judgement.

The next time I went over was after a day of diving on the reef. We were tired and hungry. Same situation as before but worse. We had our children with us and it was no place for them to be.

What we have at work here is the tourist dollar. This place is an obvious gold mine for the owners. It is up to the OWNERS to make it clear what kind of customers they would like. Folks, there is nothing we can do about it. Those of us who go to Nippers, get liquored and act like teenagers experiencing alcohol for the first time won't change. This is their life. It is up to the residents of Guana to make it clear, to the owners and the patrons, that this kind of behavior won't be accepted, period. Once the word gets out, maybe things will calm down.

Respectfully,

Steve
