Enjoyed reading your trip reports. In the summer of '98 while staying on Elbow Cay about 8 of us were sitting on the dock at Lucayos, if I recall correctly it was in the evening. We all clearly saw a launch which ended in a very strange trail of smoke. We didn't know what it was at the time but when we returned to the States we learned that a military satellite launch had ended with the rocket being destroyed as it wandered off course. Apparently under the right conditions launches are visible.
