As I sit ready to eat a canaloupe just brought in from FL yesterday and
with packages of Publix grapes, sweet corn, etc stashed in the fridge, I'm thinking
that the best advice would be to go ahead and bring what you want and
just smile when you go through customs, that is what we all do and only
rarely is there any problem. But don't bring citrus, that is a red flag!
But the good news is that citrus is usually widely available out of everyone's yard
(I'm covered up with key limes right now). We've also got an abundance
of avocados and always banannas. The kids are all over my sea grape bushes.
It is usually late November before the Bahamian tomatoes come in but
they are extraodinaryly tastefull and bear through the winter
and into the spring.

Since so many here have gardens, it IS hard to find local produce
in the stores. But we are doing better and better at that, but be warned
that our produce is not "pretty", you'll see skin spots and blemishes you'd never see
US produce section, but the taste is splendid.
