The "panfish" at Anna are grey (mangrove)snapper and yellowtail snapper. Both are excellent tasting. The grey will show interest in just about any bait (shrimp, squid pieces, etc.), the fresher the better. The greys are surprising wary though and will snub your bait if the suspect anything. One way to catch a few is to "chum" (make sure your boat is anchored) with pieces only (no hooks) for 10 minutes, then throw a piece in with a hook on it. You have to fool them. If you can get any live bait (shrimp or small minnows) it will enhance your chances. The yellowtail snapper are easier but you must get the bait all the way down around some structure (at Anna that's a sunk boat and appliances). Be ware (or enjoy a great fight) of big Barracudas that will steal the fish you hook. If a cuda shows up, put a wire leader and a big hook on, hook one of your small live snappers in the back, drop it over and hold on!
Good luck,
DJM
