If you plan on building on Guana or any other place around, plan on being rich and having a serious supply of Valium and/or Prozac. Maybe even a full-time therapist. I'm not kidding.

As far as a boat goes. Don't buy a boat unless you LOVE them and can't live without one. Houses, boats, cars, lawnmowers, etc. all break. It takes a LOT of work to keep them running. Imagine leaving your house/boat in the states and only dropping by about twice a year. Who is going to cut your grass, do your repairs, etc. As a homeowner in TC for twenty years, I can tell you it ain't easy.

You REALLY need to gather some information and do a lot of research before you jump into this one. I had a friend who just bought a house in the Abacos. He hired a caretaker and everything was lovely. Well, Hurricane Dennis came along and he felt secure in knowing that his caretaker was going to put up his shutters, etc. WRONG. When he arrived two days after Dennis, no shutters and the windows had been left open!!!!!!!! The house was flooded. These kind of stories are not unusual, believe me.

I love my place and wouldn't trade it/sell it for anything. However, most foreigners need a BIG/GIANT dose of reality about owning property in the Bahamas or any other country.
