We've made our decision. Hasn't been easy. However, ten years ago we visited (and still do) most of the Out Islands. Love them all. That was exactly our problem when we thought of buying. Our favorite is Exuma, but we didn't want to be tied to any one island. Even though the Islands are fairly close together, I would not want to travel between them in a 20" boat.

So, 5 years ago we bought a 30' Cruiser with twin's and a generator. We now have most of the bugs out of Mtce and cruising. Starting to feel a little comfortable with it. We bought something we can haul with our truck (too expensive to have it hauled). We can get it in, or out, of the water in five minutes by ourselves. We're inland N.C., but haved hauled it to the coast a few times and Key Largo and last year to West Palm and cruised to Freeport with two of our daughters. 4 people make it a little crowded for anytime over a week. However, the plans are for the wife and I to spend several months on it when we retire in three more years. We have thought of a bigger boat, but then I couldn't trailer it myself and we spend most of our time outside when we're there. Rented a house on Elbo this past spring and really didn't see much of it as we were out from sunrise to sunset. However, you need to love boating and be "together" people to make it work.
