Congrats on upcoming nuptials. Wife and I just got back from 2nd trip to Elbow - 1st trip was last april at Abaco Inn, this trip was last week to a house right up the street. Also took our first trip to Guana. My highly subjective opinion is Abaco Inn - not for the Inn, but for Elbow.
By the way, if (after reading this) you decide to go with Abaco Inn, they've just built a couple more "suites", i.e. little duplex villas with sitting room, kitchenette, bedroom, and your own decks. The views are unbeatable - front is Atlantic, back is Sea of Abaco, and being brand new, they're immaculate unlike many of the aging rooms. If you can afford the extra, they're worth it.
Yes, Guana is more private, but we're not comparing Nassau to Elbow - we're comparing two places that are the more private and laid back than just about anywhere in the carribean (except of other cays around Abaco). You'll have no trouble finding privacy in Elbow, but you will have (more) trouble finding places to eat and things to do in Guana. Guana has two places to eat & drink, Elbow has 7 (I think). Elbow has lighthouse and more stores.
Guana beach is gorgeous, prettier for the most part than the Elbow beaches. On the other hand, Elbow has many different beaches, each with it's own personality. (Two on either side of Abaco Inn), Hopetown, Tahiti .... etc.
I found the snorkeling at Guana to be kind of lifeless. At least at the only point on the beach that's close enough (otherwise it's 100yards out). Several people confirmed this opinion. I never got a chance to snorkel the north beach of Elbow, but everyone says it's just as good or better.
You won't go wrong eitheir way. They seem to the the two most popular cays.
