I endorse Carolina Carols comment and add the following:
If you really swim, the water temperature isn't a problem. For example, stateside, i'm a lap swimmer, but winters on abaco, i swim in the sea for exercise (unless storm waves throw me up on the beach). It's true that initially, 70 degree water can be a bit of a startle, but if you really crank, rather than floating around looking at the sights, after five minutes, it doesn't feel cold. Especially if the sun is out. Psychologically, the sun is very important.
