Sinc: System wont take posting yet (soon) but may take add-on to Meister: here goes: Sinclair: I made it to Denver OK late last night and immediately got online and saw the web problem. I called Mindspring (host) about midnight and again at 5:00 AM and I think we now have the posting problem fixed. Disk problem - 120 mb allotted, 121.9 used. I got them to increase temporarily by 10 mb. All users: DONT POST A MESSAGE UNLESS YOU HAVE INFORMATION. Brief TCB update: Power problem is flooded TCB generators; many stepdown transformers also flooded; unless TCB moves uncharacteristically fast, could be 2-3 months. Aux generator is powering limited water supply. Dont drink. Many private planes in and out; witnessed a near mid-air yesterday; air services flying for sure are Island Express; Sunshine (both FLL); Vintage (New Smyrna); no US Air or Continental service as of noon Fri (can’t imagine why). Roads all passable except Windward Beach from Ocean Blvd. to Galleon Bay Dr. (Water in the road, filthy, garbage, gasoline, furniture, etc. I walked it during eye - waist deep then. but draining slowly), and extreme west end of Ocean Blvd. TCB should be clearing trees on both streets by now; back way to Galleon Bay cleared by Steve Russell and friends Wed. (many blisters!). By area: Royal Palm & Atlantis flooded several feet; many boats damaged; Hodges large sportfish came loose and took out finger piers and boats- lodged against Jerry Hill’s Viking. Many finger piers gone; Several boats on lifts floated off; “Big Bite” onshore between condos; Buchanan’s boat (and others)sunk; Burgess boat gone; marina mostly OK; marina area all flooded but not deep; Spinnaker patio dining has been expanded to include whole restaurant; Tipsy OK; many downtown roofs torn off - repairs underway; real estate office front gone. TCB In General: Much flood damage; virtually all lower levels and many main floors; many cars floated or sank and wont run; substantial rain since Floyd, so roof damage(extensive) may have allowed water in even if you didnt flood with sea water. Marsh Harbor: Quick look yesterday showed many small docks destroyed; Triple J docks demolished; Boat Harbor docks look like a roller coaster; several sunken sail boats; 2-3 large boats onshore; customs dock OK; roof damage everywhere; Mangoes OK; Tiki severe damage; Sap’s and Wallys OK. Advice for home owners: If you know someone coming over, ask them to empty your frig and freezers, esp if your house didn’t flood (if flooded, you’ll be buying new appliances anyway). Also good idea to open windows and get some air into flooded houses. Advice to travelers: Dont go to TCB unless you are prepared to truly “rough it.” (Sleep without AC or fans; bath in salt water; dont cook; tolerate mosquitos; walk a lot; no ice or refrig). Remember there’s no communications. No phone, TV, radio, except Freeport AM (810) and Florida jabber (worthless); VHF? (Think about power after batteries die.) Good luck!
