Back to the dry ice - please check first. I don't know why, but the airlines all asked if I had dry ice, as if it was a chemical hazard. Since I didn't, I don't know what would've happened.

Whether you pack dry stuff in a suitcase, and cold stuff in a cooler, or pack it all in the cooler, disposable or not, is personal choice. If you're big meat eaters, and plan on cooking 7 meals with meat, obviously a big cooler. If you're packing crackers, drink mixes, spices, etc. and one pound of ground meat, big cooler is overkill. Personally, I really liked my Wheelie Cooler, even if it was 99% full of stuff that didn't need to stay cold. I even shoved a roll of toilet paper and paper towels in it.
