Great Report!!!!

I didn't know Miami Center's control could extend all the way to MH. I thought that
you'd have to have some complicated Intl. plan. It sounds like the hardest part of
flying to Abaco for me is the trip from SLC to MIA. Now if I could just talk Tammy
into the overwater part we might try it. It's funny, she's a pilot also, and thinks
nothing of flying over some of the most rugged country (Rockies, Sawtooths, etc.),
but the idea of overwater scares her. (She was a little nervous in USAir's Dash 8's)
Hopefully your trip report will ease her fears. Your recommendations for overwater
applies to "over mountains" as well. In fact, water may be safer to ditch in with
the boat traffic that can help. Several areas we regularly fly over could be impossible
for someone to spot and get help into you if you don't go IFR or flight follow.

I've got a 1960 M model Bonanza that I have about 900 hours in it. Even though it's
as old as I am, it still is a joy to fly and I can't think of trading it in for something
else without doing the math and saying...nah!!!!

I think Sinclair ought to include your report in the Best of the Board, as it appears
that there have been other pilots who've wondered about taking their own planes and
your report is very informative.

Thanks for the report.

Jim
