EVA ALMA BAIN
Funeral services for Eva Alma Bain, 90, of Cherokee Sound, were held on 26th February
at Rhodes Memorial Methodist Church in Nassau. Officiating were Rev Dr Raymond R
Neilly and Rev Emily A Demeritte and interment took place in Ebenezer Methodist Chuch
Cemetery.
She is survived by one son, Bateman Bain; two daughters, Betty Black-Harris of New
York and Sally Colebrooke; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren;
one great great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends in Crossing
Rocks, Sandy Point, Cherokee Sound, Marsh Harbour, Miami and New York.
CHARLOTTE LIGHTBOURNE
Funeral services for Charlotte Lightbourne, 38, formerly of Sandy Point, were held
at St George's Anglican Church, Nassau, on 4th March. Officiating was Fr Basil Tynes
assisted by Fr Delano Archer. Interment followed in Woodland Gardens Cemetery.
Ms Lightbourne is survived by her son Christin; mother Carnetta Lightbourne of Sandy
Point; brothers Bruce, Remorn and Leonard; sisters Beverly Culmer, Frances Henfield,
Edith Edgecombe and Denise Strachan: and many other family members and friends.
ALPHONSO CORNISH
Funeral services for Alphonso 'Phonsa' Cornish, 68, were held at Friendship Tabernacle
in Dundas Town on 11th March. Officiating was Rev Carla Culmer, assisted by Rev Kenneth
Knowles. Interment was in Dundas Town Public Cemetery.
Mr Cornish is survived by his wife, Remilda; four sons, Wendell, Edmund, Ephraim and
Kendal Cornish; three daughters, Edna Deveaux, Evamae Sturrup and Cloe Maynard; seven
brothers, Deacon Leo Cornish, Victor Cornish, Rev Lernis Cornish, Rev Jerry Cornish,
Wilson Cornish, Curtis Cornish and Wayne Cornish; four sisters, Evangelist Edna Burrows,
Viola Johnson, Evangelist Gelita Thurston and Larelda Woodside; twelve grandchildren
and a host of other relatives and friends.
ETHEL TESSA DAVIS
Funeral services for Ethel Tessa Davis, 86, were held at Zion Baptist Church in Mores
Island on 11th March. Interment was in Mores Island Public Cemetery. Former prime
minister Sir Lynden Pindling, present leader of the opposition Hon Perry Christie
and former member of parliament Eddison Key were among those in attendance.
She is survived by sone Elkin Davis and Henry Coleby; daughters Seva Moss, Ruthdell
Davis, Nathalie Coleby and Maud Romer; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and many
other relatives and friends.
