BUSH FIRE SEASON
Although not as bad as last year, Abaco saw plenty of bush fires during February and March. Police and Volunteer Fire Department officials believe that several of the fires were set deliberately. One such was a fire started near the entrance to the Eastern Campus of Abaco Central High School. The flames spread quickly in high winds and only sterling work by the local firemen saved damage to Teacher's Cottages nearby.
On 7th March a bush fire started in the Forest Drive area of Dundas Town which threatened several houses in the area. Again, local Volunteer Fire Department personnel saved the day.
