ROYAL PALM FRONDS
by Betsy Bracey
The world of Royal Palm is fast filling with tourists and owners alike. The
former looking lost and the latter looking relieved to be 'home'. Flying
against the mainstream are Pat and Stan Cairns and Andy and Maribel Colson,
who just left and are already missed.
Peggy and Hagan Peters have been enjoying our sunny weather along with Joe
and Branda Calihan and several of their family members. Mort and Kay Kaplan can
be seen heading off to golf, bike and power walk just about every day with
fishing thrown in just so they don't sit still too long. Diane and Don
Gerlach entertained non stop when the Pittsburgh contingent arrived along
with the Calihans, Cathy and Jim Braham, Jan and Pete Burchfield, Nancy and
Tom Denny and an endless variety of house guests who all gathered at the
Gerlachs to celebrate birthdays for Jan and Jim and Brenda. It's an
annual, grand and decorative event which continues to amaze because they all
celebrate their 39th - year after year after year!
Bill and Jeanne Glasgow are still in residence and still inviting friends to
join them on their Sunday morning brunch excursions to other ports of call,
which is always such fun. Jerry and Doris Gedon returned as have Virginia
and Harry Peterson and Pat and Lynn Arnold. Bill and Vicki Blair were here
for a while, as were George and Shirley Johnson. James and Kathy McAllister
have been in residence for some time and Kathy's sister, Lorna Firstbrook,
and husband, Bill, also returned although they have abdicated for a Mariner's
Cove condo and a bigger boat! Kathleen and Bill Draper keep the tennis
group in action along with Nan and George Gregory so long as they're not off
winning races in Hope Town.
Brian and Joyce Leutchford came over for a brief visit and the Peppino and
Claudia Campi are scheduled to arrive from France tomorrow. Fabrizio and
Paola Ghersel flew over from Rome a few days ago and Bill and MaryLou
Nielsen flew their plane in from Pine Hurst last week. Una Galli has been
with us for many weeks along with Bud and Nan Camferdam. Joyce Turpin
returned last month and Richard Moore popped over from Europe on his way to
California. We do have an international set in Royal Palm these days!
The first Deck Party of the year will be held on Friday night, March 12th,
and we'll tell you all about that next month. If owners are in accord, we
will have another on the evening of the 21st. These are BYO affairs but you
will find the basics when you arrive on deck. We've had a very good year and
wish all of our owners could be with us for the Easter holiday celebrations.
Please don't forget to let us know when you arrive!!
