COMMUNICATIONS...
Dear Editor,
I was just surfing your website and noticed the article about the fire that
engulfed the Capelle home. My wife and I, and some friends, were in the
harbour on a charter boat that evening. We had just finished dinner at the
Spinnaker when we noticed the commotion about the fire.
We decided to walk down see what was going on. At the time we arrived
people were busy taking furniture out of the McKay home. A lady came
running by saying she needed buckets. Well, a very nicely dressed man picked up a
bucket and dumped the contents and started to go to help. However,
his girlfriend
said, "you're not going back there."
So, I took the bucket and became part of the bucket brigade. I spent the
rest of the evening in the canal bucketing water to the waiting hands above.
It was a tragedy for the Capelle family but it could have been much worse
had it not been for the pulling together of your community.
I was proud to have been a part of that evening
and when we make cruising a part of
our life...we will be back to visit.
Jay Clark.
