WORKING FOR THE LORD
A group of ten members from Christ Presbyterian Church, Tennessee, along with a church
member from Lafayette, Louisiana, helped restore the Friendship Tabernacle Mission
House, Dundas Town, in the middle of July.
Christ Presbyterian Church has been partnered with Friendship Tabernacle for ten years,
during which time Vacation Bible School sessions have been held during the summer
months. Spokesman for the four woman, seven men group, Jim Beuerlein, said it was
the third trip the group had made to Abaco since Hurricane Floyd. "During our first trip
we assisted with clean up. On our second trip we did roofing in the community. Now
we are restoring the Mission House."
The Mission House stands overlooking the sea between Friendship Tabernacle and the
church's Day Care Centre. It has nine bedrooms and five bathrooms. In addition to
being used by Vacation Bible School in the summer months, it helps house visiting
ministers and church members.
"We expect to have the roof on before we leave," said Jim Beuerlein. "The finishing
work will be done by local people after our week here. Please mention that we are
doing this for the Lord."
The members of the construction group were Jim Beuerlein, son Tony and daughter Terri;
Mark Neeley, wife Cassie and daughter Amy; Jim Hannaford; Don Drummond; Bob Heeth;
Cherie Frederick; and Tim Zaunbrecher (from Lafayette, Louisiana).
