A visitor wandering along a beach in Spanish Cay at about 4.30 on 11th July came across a large duffel bag floating near to shore. The visitor contacted Customs at Coopers Town and they in turn informed the police. Spt of Police, Leeland Russell and Supt of Customs, Sheila McDonald, went to Spanish Cay and took possession of the duffel bag.

The bag contained 25 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of $450,000. The cocaine was taken to Nassau by drug enforcement officials.
