ABACO TOURIST OFFICE UPDATE

De La Mer Swimwear, a company based in Jacksonville, Florida, came to Marsh Harbour from 19th to 26th June to shoot their annual swimwear spread for their 2000 catalogue. The crew consisted of nine people and they used several different locations on Abaco.

Treasure Cay Beach Resort hosted the Bahamas Barbeque Fly-In 2nd-5th July. A fly-in is designed to introduce pilots to the beauty of the islands and the joy of island hopping. The fly-in offers pilots and their passengers the opportunity to explore more islands and to reach places that most tourists never see. A total of 20 planes participated in this event which attracted some 50+ people. They were able to visit and enjoy Green Turtle Cay, Little Harbour and Hope Town. Also, they attended Goombay Summer Festival and Regatta Time reception and cook-out on Green Turtle Cay. On Sunday a beach party was held, sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism., at which they were able to interact with each other with lots to eat and drink. To top it off there was an American Independence Day firework display. The group was accompanied by Greg Rolle of the MOT's Miami office.
