ROYAL PALM FRONDS
by Betsy Bracey
During the months of September and October Marina Drive has been in a sorry state but for a very good reason. A new sewer line is being installed much to the satisfaction of Royal Palm and Atlantis owners. The project is scheduled to be completed in November.
We are enjoying the annual fall migration. Mort & Kay Kaplan kicked it off followed by Bogey and Carol Actis-Grande over from Paris and Jack and Anne Tupper in from England. Nan Gregory came to town with some lady friends who immediately made good use of our courts. Roger Smith was seen at a distance and Jerry and Doris Gedon came to town with their son, Carl and his wife who had great fun fishing on Weather Girl. Claudia and Peppino Campi arrived from Paris for the winter while Lucy and Stuart Stripp fought the Gulf Stream for 12 hours to bring in their lovely new boat. That was a long haul, Stuart!
Una Galli is in town with her daughter, Margaret, for another session of fixing up while Mark Durante closed up his dental office for 6 days to test the waters and catch some sun. Directors Jerry Hill, Bill Glasgow and Andy Colson along with BJ, Jean and Maribel are still with us as is our permanent resident Joyce Turpin. Erica and Isik Erim returned after a long stay in Annapolis and George and Kernan Hodgesfinally made it back for an island visit. Diane and Don Gerlach round out the current resident guest list.
Our weather is beautifully cool yet sunny and we've all had a fun week watching the 1st Annual All Abaco Regatta from our Treasure Cay ferry dock where stalls were set up to provide delicious food and to offer souvenirs for sale. Boats arrived from all over The Bahamas and from all reports it was a success with the exception of the final day, which had to be cancelled due to high wind.
We expect to see more owners during the holiday season and hope you
are among them!
