ROYAL PALM FRONDS
by Betsy Bracey

For those in residence in Treasure Cay who stayed awake on the night of January 20th nature put on a magnificent display between 10 pm and midnight, the total eclipse of the Moon. We had a clear sky, a full moon and it was truly a wonder.

And surprisingly we do have some owners in residence, even lower unit owners who are camping out with friends or in rental units, despite our ongoing trauma. Kay and Mort Kaplan, Nan and George Gregory, Katherine and James McAllister, Kathy and James Braham, Roger Hedge, Joyce Turpin, Una Galli, Gae and Mike Meeson, Jean and Bill Glasgow, Andy and Maribel Colson, Kathleen and Bill Draper and Jimmy Nielsen are here for the long haul along with Mike and Karen Meyer who travel back and forth on an almost weekly basis, and Woody and I who returned when the airport opened.

Paola Ghersel, Joe and Brenda Calihan, Doris and Jerry Gedon, Virginia and Harry Peterson, Hagen Peters, Bud Camferdam, Bob Zykowski, Bob Williams and family, Jorge and Consuela Latour, Stewart and Jackie Carrell, Diane Gerlach, Stan Cairns, Marco Perez, Jerry Hill, David and Freda Janney, Mike Winblad, Jack and Vera Ankney, David and Ginny Cosman, Mike Rohan, Bill Whelan, Florence Gillet, Christa Weltchek, Donald Benn, Sandra Lyn Shue, George and Cynthia Scott, Lucy and Stewart Stripp, Edwin Pearlstine, Jerry Freisinger, Claudia and Peppino Campi, Peter Rockwell, George and Shirley Johnston, Bogey and Caryl Actis-Grande, Doug Stimson, Tom Seward, Roger and Angelica Smith, Bill Blair along with new owners Mary and Neil Rice have all made an appearance since Hurricane Floyd staying for a few days or a few weeks to deal with their lower unit retrofits or, in the case of upper unit owners, to vacation. What a difference a staircase makes!

Another wonder of nature is the amazingly quick recovery of our greenery. The grass along with the shrubs and trees which survived, are in full leaf and flower and it is a dramatically different looking world than it was on September 15, 1999. Our building recovery is slow going in many respects but the important thing is that we have made progress six days of each weeksince the hurricane. Happy New Year from all of us at Royal Palm to all of our owners throughout the world ! May 2000 find us fully recovered and more beautiful than ever before when we ring in 2001.
