TREASURE CAY EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND

The following information came from Wardy Thompson and was distributed to Treasure Cay property owners:

The Treasure Cay Emergency Relief Fund, which was set up to help victims of Hurricane Floyd, raised donations totalling $220,000 from about 150 contributors. More donations are expected in the near future.

By December 1999, some $186,500 had been spent on the following: four Coopers Town churches - money to repair roof damage per estimates, $40,000; Abaco Youth Camp - funds to start their massive rebuilding programme, $25,000;100 new stoves and 100 new refrigerators- to be given to Bahamians who were uninsured and had devastating losses, $67,000; school books- in the process of purchasing books for Treasure Cay School and Fox Town Primary School to replace books lost in the hurricane, $15,000; interest-free loans made to five Treasure Cay cab drivers who lost taxis, $15,000; and three designated gifts, $6,500. Total to date - $168,500.
