ABACO TOURIST OFFICE UPDATE

Anke Blecher of Bahamas Tourist Office Germany accompanied a group of 19 travel agents from Germany to Abaco on a familiarisation trip from 10th-12th December 2000. While on Abaco they visited hotels in Treasure Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Marsh Harbour, Hope Town and Different of Abaco Resort. They were hosted to a special cocktail reception and dinner by Nettica Symonette, President of the Bahamas Out Island Promotion Board, at Different of Abaco Resort. The Music Man, Estin Sawyer, provided live entertainment.
A group of ten travel agents from London were on Abaco from 13th-15th December for Bahamas Tourism Institute Level Two. Jason King of BTO London, and Donnajeane Turnquest of the Bahamas Out Islands Promotion Board, escorted them. They visited Treasure Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Marsh Harbour, Hope Town and Different of Abaco.
Abaco's newest resort opened its doors on 29th December. Sunset Point Resort is an eight room hotel with a swimming pool, restaurant and bar. The resort amenities include kayaking, canoeing, nature tours and bonefishing. Sunset Point Resort is owned by Silbert Cooper, a native Abaconian, and is managed by Joan Nixon, former manager of Banyan Beach Resort. The resort is situated two miles north of Marsh Harbour.
