ATLANTIS CHIT-CHAT
by Jean Buchanan
Happy, healthy 1998! David and I flew in on our Cessna 210 on 29th December. The skies were not too kind and when we landed they opened up. All our baggage got soaked. On 5th January Marsh Harbour got eleven inches in eight hours. Marsh Harbour Airport was closed because it was flooded. My Bahama calendar says our average rainfall is two inches! Well, we sure beat that. Happily our grass is green and the flowers wonderful. We are blaming El Niño for the rain and wind!
The New Year in Atlantis was heralded by quite a few residents. Pat and Roy Kinsey came here in their new plane - an MU2. Nancy and Woody McKay flew in on their Red Aerostar. Seems like Building #1 has quite a few pilots and planes.
Building #2 had Picci and Henning Haus for the holidays. I believe it was their first time alone. Their two sons are busy in school. Phil and Jean Read and Pat Bell - all from Canada - are enjoying the warm weather. It's mighty cold in Canada. Jan and Len Scheponick just arrived. They look great. Jan is doing fine.
Phil and Sally Cappello were here for the holidays. Fishing days have been limited but Phil still manages to get a lot of fishing done. Marge and Ray Pearlson brought in 1998 in Treasure Cay then Marge had to hurry back to Miami. Our building was quiet. Linda and Ira Friedman were here for the holidays to catch some rays. Since they left, we haven't had too many. I guess they took the rays back to New Jersey!
Bob and Cheryl Finkelstein were here from Marblehead, Massachusetts, in their Baron. Bob said they plan on spending much more time in Treasure Cay.
Changing times ... Mike and Kathy Sawyer are leaving Atlantis. We are sad to see them go. Mike's boat Little Miss has caught many biggies.
Our condolences go to Bob Kolp for the loss of his son. Our prayers are with you and your family, Bob.
Brigitte Aebersold called the other day. Jerry and Annie Mansback (previous Atlantis owners) are bringing Velma to Treasure Cay. Dear Charley (Beach Comber ) is not up to the trip. Doris Chappell (Ellan Vannin ) is coming early March. The fishing hasn't been too good so maybe Doris and my David can go hit a few balls on the golf course - which David has not seen recently.
We miss you all. "Haste Ye Back."
