ROYAL PALM FRONDS
by Betsy Bracey

The Millennium will have been well celebrated by the time this reaches your mailbox and I do hope that you all enjoyed the festivities and did not get caught in any Y2K crunches.

The information that Royal Palm owners most want to hear is that progress is being made on the renovations to our property and it is! Never has this small bit of the planet seen so much activity. Contractors and their workmen are in and out of our temporary office for keys and instructions, all day long truck drivers are searching for delivery locations, electricians, plumbers, roofers, fence installers - you name it and we have them. All being very cheerful and trying their best to stay on target and doing a really good job for us. We were fortunate to get our foot in the door on the first few days following Floyd to hire local contractors before they were gobbled up by the incredible demand in Treasure Cay. We want them to know how much we appreciate their diligence and concern for us, their neighbours for so many years now.

Our temporary office number is 242-365-9412 with a fax of 242-365-8617. Although it is extremely difficult for us to get an overseas line, I hear it is easier for you to call in. You may fax us your questions, and although the settling of your contents issues are not within our sphere, we are certainly willing to help with phones numbers and such if that is needed.

By and large it is better if you fax and we respond same way, as telephoning is difficult and time consuming.  We have been putting in very long days for a very long time and anything that eases our time consumption is appreciated.

One thing we have clearly seen is that it is best to ship into Marsh Harbour by container which prevents items from becoming separated, keeps them safe and provides a place in which to store them for a few days until delivery can be arranged as both ports are very overcrowded.

Another shipping method which has worked well is air freight directly into Treasure Cay. Freight shipment is available through Twin Air and Vintage Air to name two. Small parcels are handled within their regular flight services while large shipments are shipped in their freight planes.

We hope this information proves helpful. You may rely on the fact that we are all doing the best we can to recover from the serious devastation that we have undergone and are trying very hard to stay positive and productive. Mostly we hope for a very calm June through November of 2000!
