JEROME PENNINGTON

Notice of death is given for Jerome "Jerry" Pennington, 79, of Leisure Lee who passed away on 25th October at St Francis Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.after a stroke.

Born 13th April, 1922 in Montgomery, Alabama, Mr Pennington was a Navy sailor and fought in WWII and was aboard the USS Phoenix, anchored in Pearl Harbour during the surprise attack on 7th December, 1941. Consequently he found a career in the construction business as a field superintendent during which time he oversaw construction of hotels and universities across the United States and around the world. It was after completion of the Cable Beach Hotel in Nassau that he retired to Nassau and eventually to the Abacos.

Mr Pennington, the husband of Florence Roberts Pennington, and the widower of Alice Pennington, also leaves a daughter, Jerri Pennington; a son Jim Pennington; a stepdaughter, Cindy Roberts Newell of Leisure Lee; two brothers, Robert of Jackson, Mississippi, and Gene of Olive Branch, Mississippi; a grandson, James "Scooter" Pennington and a great-granddaughter Mackenzie Pennington, both of Memphis, Tennessee.

Graveside services were held on 27th October at Memorial Park in Memphis with Navy Colour Guard presentation of the flag in honour of Mr Pennington's service to his country.

The family requests that memorials be sent to Trauma One in Marsh Harbour.

WILLARD CHARLES GARDINER

Funeral services for Deacon Willard Charles Gardiner of Fire Road were held on 25th November at St Andrews Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev Eulin McIntosh, assisted by Rev Clayton McIntosh. Interment was made in the Public Cemetery, Fire Road.

Cherished memories will forever linger in the hearts of his son, Shelton Gardiner; two daughters, Shannamae Baillou and Rubylee Gardiner; adopted son, Victor Brown; adopted daughters, Miriam Murray and Shannalee Sands; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

MARGARITA COOPER

Funeral services for Margarita "Aunty Maggie" Cooper, 69, were held at the Church of God Cathedral, Coopers Town, on 1st December. Officiating was Bishop Archilus Cooper, assisted by Elder Clayton McIntosh. Interment followed in South Side Garden, Coopers Town.

Mrs Cooper is survived by her husband, Joseph Cooper Jr; four sons, Lionel, Ivan, William Sr and Gary Cooper; one daughter, Sherrilean Russell; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 46 nephews; 51 nieces; and a host of other relatives and riends.

LOUISA CEPHAS

Funeral services for Louisa "Mama Visa" Cephas, 91, were held on 9th December at Siloh Baptist Church, Grand Cay. Officiating were Pastor John Russell and Bishop Velock Russell. Interment was made in Grand Cay Public Cemetery.

Mrs Cephas is survived by nine children, Loretta Laing, Iva Cooper, Louvina Russell, Laura Rolle, Virtel Rolle, Perial Stuart, Deloris Pratt, Wilbert and Eric Cephas; 56 grandchildren; 155 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

THEOPHILUS RONALD THOMPSON

Funeral services for Theophilus Ronald "Theo" Thompson, 79, were held on 15th December at St Martin's Anglican Church, Sandy Point. Officiating was Rev Dr Earl Hepburn assisted by Catechist Benjamin Pinder. Interment was in Sandy Point Cemetery.

Mr Thompson is survived by his wife. Eloise; six children, Alexandra Cartwright, Anastasia Ritchie-Bullard; Antonio Thompson, Teresa Symonette, Theophilus Thompson Jr and Katherine Thompson; seven grandchildren; three sons in law; eight sisters in law; nine brothers in law; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends in Sandy Point and Crossing Rocks.
