ROYAL PALM FRONDS
by Joan Appleton
How great it is to leave the postal strike and the ice and snow behind and return to our lovely island where the frangipani, bougainvillea and yellow elder are spectacular this year.
In Betsy's absence visiting family and friends with her husband I will try to cover some of the comings and goings around here but if miss a few - my apologies.
The Ghersels, Fabrizio and Paola; the Tuppers, Jack and Anne; and the Hagen Peters, Pete and Peggy and Richard Moore have been seen here recently, while Bud and Nancy Camferdam arrived for a short stay. Stan and Pat Cairns were also here for an all too short visit. Joyce Turpin is away on a cruise to the southern Caribbean with her daughter-in-law's parents and we look forward to her return in good health.
In the autumn I had a fine trip with Sue Young to San Francisco, my first time, to see Dean Wickham and her family. We then drove up the coast and saw those beautiful redwood trees and went on to Victoria to visit friends there. Dean is fit and well and wishes to be remembered to all who know her from earlier Treasure Cay days.
Carol Young with her sister and brother-in-law have just arrived from Canada for a visit. She is very proud to announce the arrival of her first granddaughter last October, whom she hopes to introduce to Treasure Cay at Christmas. Another family looking forward to the future are the Campis who have their son and daughter-in-law from Milan staying with them. They are eagerly expecting their first grandchild in the spring.
The new sewer line has been completed and everything appears to be working well, especially after the huge rain storm we had in late November. Well done to those concerned with this project.
