DISNEY CRUISE LINE DONATES MEDICAL SUPPLIES

Disney Cruise Line, operators of Castaway Cay, presented medical equipment to the Government Clinic at Sandy Point on 9th December. A delegation from the Ministry of Health, led by Minister Dr Ronald Knowles. Minister Knowles was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Joshua Sears, Chief Medical Officer Merceline Dahl-Regis, Acting Medical Staff Coordinator of the Department of Health Cheryl Thompson, and Family Island Nursing Officer Sandra Coleby. The Department of Health oversees government clinics.

The group was received at Sandy Point airstrip by Island Administrator Everette Hart, Deputy Administrator for South Abaco Gloria Bain, Chief Councillor for South Abaco Benjamin Pinder, Cherokee Sound Town Committee Chairman Eleanor Jorgensen, Secretary to the Central Abaco District Council Don Cornish and other officials. A ceremony followed during which Disney representatives Thomas Kathedar, Larry Stouffer, Günter Schmidt and the Disney representative extraordinaire himself, Mickey Mouse, made the presentation of medical equipment such as and EKG, eye charts diagnostic set, portable emergency crash kit, defibrillator, life-scan and thermo-scan machines, nebuliser system and crash cart and office equipment, including a computer, fax machine and copier. receiving the equipment were Sandy Point Clinic staff Nurses Estelle Pinder, Shirley Saunders and Melivinia Munnings.
