HOMEOWNERS' HOTLINE
by Edna Lacey

This was a quiet autumn season along Ocean Boulevard, Treasure Cay Road, Windward Beach Road and their tributaries. October saw a slower-than -usual ingress of returning winter residents and an earlier exodus for the Christmas and New Year holidays than, it seems to me, has hitherto been the case.

Among the more permanent Treasure Cay homeowner residents, Bill and Clair Regan and Ron and Hilary Cole are planning to be here for the holidays, as are Bill Hertz, Bruce and Doreen Barth, Isik and Erica Erim, Ron and Jackie Wilson, Everett and Ella Pinder, Bill and Margaret Cary, Paul and Cynthia Vernall, and Jerry and Rosemary Roberts. Bill Regan was in England on business for a few days in early December, and Clair took the opportunity to visit grandchildren while he was gone. But now they're back tending the garden and gracing life along Treasure Cay Road. Bill Hertz spent part of November on his second boat cruise of the year. Bruce and Doreen were away for a couple of weeks around Thanksgiving with their family in Florida. Isik and Erica returned to their new home on Windward Beach Road in early December from a Thanksgiving trip to visit their daughter in North Carolina and to see their son, who joined them there from Tennessee.

Our latest news on Ella Pinder is that her most recent eye surgery has given her some relief from constant pain. At last, Ella, it seems that the prayers for your full recovery are being answered. Ron and Jackie, too, have given us the good news that their daughter Lisa continues to regain her health and strength, for which we give thanks. Jane Schor is still in Florida recuperating from two knee surgeries and is reportedly doing well. John and I look forward to seeing her smiling face around Treasure Cay when we return in mid-January.

A few winter residents are planning to spend the holidays here in Treasure Cay. They include George and Carolyn Stern, Pete and Molly Plumb, Warren Steiner, Jean English, Charlie and Peggy Morgan, Noel and Sylvia Lister, and Bill and Betty Richardson. Our hearts go out to Betty and Bill. Betty's sister, Mary Jean, died in early December. Our prayers are with you both. We hope that the forthcoming Christmas visit here by many of your family members will help to alleviate your pain, Betty and Bill.

Jean English will leave us, along with Judy Beck and Fred and Anne Zulauf, to take a brief boat cruise early in the New Year. Charlie and Peggy Morgan will be here until May, newly settled in Villa 611. Welcome back, you two! We'll miss you along Treasure Cay Road, but we're so glad to count you among our more distant neighbours.

Molly Plumb will be on duty playing the organ for all the services in the Treasure Cay Community Church over the holidays. I won't be there to help her out with that pleasant duty because John and I will be gone for a few weeks to spend Christmas with our daughter Erika and her family in Monticello, Illinois, and to take care of matters needing our attention at home in Minnesota. Erika, her husband Steve, and their sons Alex and Justin, recently returned from a four-year stint in Singapore, where Steve ran the Asian Operations for his company, ADM, to a new home in Illinois. We're so eager to see it and them, I can't wait!

Among those who have left early to spend the holidays with family and friends are Woody and Betsy Bracey, Dairell and Anna Snapp, Judy Beck, Brian and Nadine Sheehe, Helen and Gerry Shelly, Myrna and Bill Floyd, Patty and Nelson Radwan, and Patty and Frank Kay, all of whom will return to us in January or February. Helen and Gerry deserve a rest after the tremendous Hallowe'en party they threw for the Yacht Club. It was great to see Bill and Myrna back, if only for a few weeks at Thanksgiving. Myrna tells us that Bill is behaving himself after his surgery and following doctor's orders to take it easy for a while. That's good news for all of us! We look forward to your return to Treasure Cay in January, Myrna and Bill, and to your resumption of full activity, Bill.

Nancy Darnell, Millie Wood, and Roy and Audrey Baker-Romain have yet to arrive, and we haven't heard anything of Wardy and Stella Thompson. Roy and Audrey were scheduled to be here at the end of November, but Audrey was taken ill on the way to Gatwick Airport and was forced to return to her home in Bosham Hoe. We hope you are now fully recovered, Audrey, and we look forward to seeing you and Roy in January. Indeed, we look forward to seeing you all again in this paradise we know as Treasure Cay.
