ABACO PRINCIPAL HONOURED

Anne Bootle, principal of the Amy Roberts Primary School on Green Turtle Cay, was recently honoured by the Primary Principals’ Association in Nassau for her years of long and exemplary service to education in The Bahamas.

Anne first arrived in The Bahamas from her home in Dumfries, Scotland, in 1969 and was posted to Coopers Town at what was then the Coopers Town All-Age School. In 1972 she relocated to Treasure Cay where she taught for 25 years, being promoted to the position of principal in 1982.

When the post in Green Turtle Cay became vacant in 1997, Anne decided it was time for a change and has remained there since. She hopes to end her teaching career on that beautiful cay but says retirement is not imminent.

A week of activities for this year’s 24 nominees was held in Nassau. The activities included a prayer breakfast church service, presentation of medals by Governor-General Dame Ivy Dumont followed by a reception at Government House, and the week culminated with an awards banquet at the Radisson, Cable Beach. Anne enjoyed every moment of the week and truly felt honoured. Congratulations!
