SERVICE FOR HERO PILOT
A special prayer service was held in at the Major's Air Services ramp in Freeport
on 13th May for Capt Eddie Thomas who drowned following the ditching of his Piper
Aztec into the waters off Walkers Cay. Capt Thomas was hailed for saving the lives
of his five female passengers after the ditching by encouraging them to hold on to the aircraft
and his clothing, as several of them could not swim. Air Traffic Controller Wellington
Moultrie said Capt Thomas died a hero by putting the lives of his passengers above his own.
Funeral services were held at St Matthew's Baptist Church, Pelican Point, on 17th
May. Capt Thomas was survived by his wife Joycelyn and four children.
