COOPERS TOWN DEATHS

Shortly after school was out on 9th May, Coopers Town children discovered a body floating in the water near the town's foreshore. Police were called and the body retrieved. Damage to the face from rocks made identification difficult.

Two days later the body of Fred Edgecombe was found in his Coopers Town home. Mr Edgecombe, who was bedridden and partially blind, died of multiple stab wounds. His house is situated just over the road from where the floating body was found. Family members had telephoned Mr Edgecombe several times from Nassau and received no answer. Police were informed and made the discovery.

Mr Fred Edgecombe lived with his son, Lundy, who could not be located. It was widely assumed that Lundy Edgecombe killed his father then drowned himself.
