SCHOOL WINS TWICE IN NATIONALS
When adjudicators for the National Arts Festival came to Abaco on 13th April they
expressed disappointment that only one school on the island - Abaco Central High
School - took part. But Abaco Central did Abaco proud by winning two categories:
Solo Gospel and Boys' Changed Voice.
On 16th May a gospel concert in Nassau for the winning students featured Abaco's Lindsay
Davis singing solo accompanied by his music teacher, Alfred Dean. Next day there
was a presentation from His Excellency Sir Orville Turnquest at Government House
where the team of Wilner Pierre, Basil Pierre, Kevin Pierre and Wickson Cajuste, as well
as Lindsay Davis, were rewarded with winners' plaques. Mr Dean joined the school
in 1999 and has produced several successful concerts and tours.
