Enjoy food, games, music and fellowship with residents and visitors alike. Bring the children, bring your grandmothers, and let your grandfathers bring you. Proceeds to assist church projects.
2nd June: Those visitors and residents who attend St Francis de Sales Catholic Church or the churches in Hope Town, Treasure Cay and Bahama Star Farms are reminded that this Sunday is the last one in Abaco for Fr Stan Kolasa before he assumes his new assignment in a Boston parish. You are invited to attend mass at 9 am in Marsh Harbour on this day and bid him fond farewell. Fr Stan has been in the Abacos for about ten years and will be greatly missed by all.
7th June: Labour Day, a public holiday.
8th June: The Pilot Club of Abaco is holding an Anything-a-Thon and Family Fun Day especially for those who can't get away to celebrate the 7th June Labour Day holiday. You can register at 8 am to race with anything - feet, wheelchairs, bicycles, skates, scooters, etc and then relax, play and eat in Murphy Town Park next to the Abaco Central High School on Forest Drive. Proceeds will aid the BrainMinder Project. Call Pilot Veronica at 367-2133 for details.
13th June: The Pilot Club of Abaco is holding its annual Movie Premiere at RND Cinema 3 in Marsh Harbour beginning with cocktails and finger-foods. the first-run road-rage movie Changing Lanes with Samuel L Jackson and Ben Affleck will be showing. Dress is sports jackets for the men and cocktail dresses or pantsuits for the ladies. This is a great opportunity for meet new friends and entertain your honey. Proceeds will aid Club community activities. Tickets are $20 per person. The RND concession stand refreshments are separate. Call Pilot Charlamae at 367-2246 for further details.
15th June: Drexel Major, former manager of Abaco Water, current president of the Rotary Club of Abaco, Scout leader and churchman, suffered serious injuries to his legs and back in a vehicle accident in January of this year. He was hospitalised for months at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, and has recently been released to his mother's home in Nassau to facilitate his physiotherapy at Princess Margaret Hospital. the prognosis is still guarded as to whether he will regain full use of his legs. Drexel is a husband and father to three young children. His family plans to relocate in Nassau in the summer. His birthday is 15th June and his fellow Abaco residents want to help him as much as possible as he has helped so many.
