ABACO STUDENTS SWEEP
Students of Abaco Central Secondary School entered the Ministry of Health & Environment
AIDS Secretariat Awareness Week Competition and gained extraordinary success. Jessica
Cooke (Grade 11) placed third in the Poems Finals and Veronique Paul (Grade 10) received an Honourable Mention in the Essay and Short Stories Competition. Who beat
her? First, second and third - a clean sweep - were Ingram Marray (Grade 11), Latoya
Newman (Grade 12) and Marisa Strachan (Grade 12). Marisa attended the presentation
ceremony in Nassau and brought back the certificates, plaques and gift certificates for
books donated by Nassau Stationers. Well done, Abaco Central!
It didn't stop there, however. Brandon Lightbourne of Grade 11 placed second in the
Bahamas Hotel Association Essay Competition and also attended their presentation
in Nassau.
