SAND BANK YACHT CLUB NOTES
by John Lacey
The Sand Bank Yacht Club concluded its 1997-98 winter programme on 21st April when
fifty-seven members and eleven houseguests gathered at the Seaspray Resort on White
Sound at Elbow Cay for a champagne brunch. Almost all of them journeyed by boat from
Treasure Cay on one of the very few good boating days of the year to date. A few arrived
by ferry. Bloody Marys were served from the moment we landed and champagne accompanied
our brunch which comprised our choice of Bahamian chicken and fish, baron of beef,
quiche Lorraine, eight salads and ice cream for dessert.
Throughout the festivities, the air was filled with fond farewells and cries of "Haste
ye back!" as many friends exchanged their plans for returning home to other friends
and family in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and elsewhere. A good
time was had by all.
The next Club event will be a Howling Hallowe'en Party at the Haunted Shelly House
on Brigantine Bay Road on 30th October. See you there!
