ABACO TOURIST OFFICE UPDATE

Mr Phillip Bailey, Developer of Bay Company Ltd, confirmed with the Tourist Office the development of a resort complex to be constructed at Winding Bay, which is located between Cherokee Sound and Little Harbour. The development would include a recording studio (similar to Compass Point), a permanent anchorage for yachts, a housing development, and a hotel with 70 rooms to be constructed in the first phase expanding to 200 rooms on completion. Construction is to begin in July of this year. Mr Bailey was accompanied to Abaco by Arthur Anderson of Arthur Anderson Accounting Firm of London, representatives of Richardman and Areen designs of London, who have worked with projects such as the British Colonial Hotel and South Beach Club, and Philip Garforth, who is the Project Manager for Bay Company Ltd.

Richard Harris, writer of Hidden Bahamas, visited Abaco from 8th-10th May. Mr Harris was here to update and expand the Ulysses Press Guidebook, Hidden Bahamas winter 1999-2000 issue. While on Abaco he had the opportunity to visit Marsh Harbour, Hope Town and Different of Abaco.
