GTYC 1999 BAHAMA CUP RACE

Conceived in 1982 by Alan Charlesworth, founder of the Green Turtle Yacht Club, the Bahama Cup, a scenic 20 miles race around Green Turtle Cay, was run annually as the final race of the GTYC Regatta Week. For 1999, the Green Turtle Yacht Club is proud to offer a modification of this classic sailing race as a part of the Abaco summer yacht racing season.

The 1999 Bahama Cup Race will be held on 1st July, with classes for PHRF Racers, PHRF Cruiser/Racers and Non Spinnaker Cruisers. The race will start at 11 am a quarter mile west of the town of New Plymouth and the course will be laid out in Abaco Sound between Green Turtle Cay and Great Abaco.

The GTYC will again sponsor the annual Victor Ludorum Yacht Club Challenge. Any yacht club fielding a team of at least two yachts competing in the Bahama Cup Race will automatically be eligible for the challenge trophy. The yacht club with any two competing yachts whose combined scores total the lowest number will be awarded the Victor Ludorum Yacht Club Challenge Perpetual Trophy.

There will be a skippers' meeting at the head of White Sound at 6 pm on Wednesday 30th June when race packets will be distributed.
