ABACO TOURIST OFFICE UPDATE

Mr Godfrey Young, editor, and Mrs Connie Crowthers, staff writer of Junkanoo Magazine, visited Abaco 11th-14th January. The purpose of their trip was to obtain an update on Abaco for their upcoming issue. While in Abaco they had an opportunity to visit and conduct interviews with hotels and tourist-related establishments in Green Turtle Cay, Green Turtle cay and Marsh Harbour.

Wynsome Ferguson of the Abaco Tourist Office participated in a Conference for Administrative Professionals 12th-14th January in Fort Lauderdale. The conference was organised by Rockhurst University Continuing Education Center of Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

An educational Out Island tour was held 17th-18th January for representatives from Bozell and ISM, the advertising agencies for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. The tour was organised by Barbara Koch of the Bahamas Out Island Promotion Board, assisted by Wynsome Ferguson and Mr Earl Miller of the Promotion Board. The group had the opportunity to tour and become more knowledgeable with Treasure cay, Green Turtle Cay, Marsh Harbour, Hope Town and Casuarina Point. During their visit they were hosted to a dinner reception at Different of Abaco Resort and the Music Man, Estin Sawyer, provided the entertainment. In attendance were Nettica Symonette, President of the Board; Manny Alexiou, Vice President; Benjamin Pinder, Administrator for South Abaco; Veronica Saunders, Town Committee Member for Casuarina Point; and Wynsome Ferguson.

Kristen Doherty of Lands' End Catalog, along with five other persons, were in Abaco for a photo shoot 29th January-2nd February. The photo shoot was to cover swimwear for the catalogue's May issue. The shoot took place on Green Turtle Cay.

The Mark Group, which consists of 11 people, were in Abaco 29th January-4th February to photograph models in upscale women's fashion for the Mark, Fore and Strike summer catalogue. The photo shoot took place in Treasure Cay and Green Turtle Cay. The group stayed at Banyan Beach Resort in Treasure Cay.

Abaco Beach Resort held its Fourth Annual Abaco Arts Festival 2nd-4th February. Nick Watson, General Manager of the resort, officially opened the festival. Special mention was made of the late Don Barnes who passed away last year. A total of 20 artists participated and some 200 people attended the official opening. Wynsome Ferguson represented the Abaco Tourist Office at the official opening.
