NA'TANYA GAITOR
Funeral services for Na'tanya Gaitor, 14, of Dundas Town were held at Zion Baptist Church, Murphy Town, on 2nd February. Officiating was Pastor A B Lewis, assisted by Christopher Dean and Youth Pastor Leroy Thompson. Interment was made in Murphy Town Public Cemetery.
She is survived by her father, Evangelist Cedric Gaitor; mother, Shanell Gierszewski; step parents Glacie Gaitor and Andre Gierszewski; grandparents, Walter and Virgie Lightbourn; seven sisters, Valene, Simone, Geleese, Petra, Adrea, Josephine, and Varlene Gaitor; two brothers, Cedric Gaitor Jr and Marvin Albury; great-grandmother Nathalie Green; eight aunts; nine uncles; and a host of cousins and other relatives.
On 1st February Abaco Central High School held a Memorial Survive for Na'tanya at New Visions Church in Marsh Harbour.
Rev SAMUEL SANDS
Funeral services for Rev Samuel Sands, 102, were held at Mount Zion Native Baptist Church, Sandy Point, on10th February. Officiating were Rev Dr Michael Symonette, Rev Dr Carrington Pinder and Rev Napoleon Roberts, assisted by other ministers. Interment was made in Sandy Point Public Cemetery.
Rev Sands is survived by his daughters Deaconess Isadora Pinder, Rev Hilda Symonette of Nassau and Gladys Rolle of Houston, Texas; adopted daughters Luceal Walker, Carnetta Lightbourne, Anniebell Bain, Mary White, Edith Clarke, Prescola Penn, Beulah Robinson, Rachel Garcia, Marylin Davis, Barbara Thompson, Yvonne Bain, Barbara Adderley and Curlean McBride; adopted sons Richard Fawkes and Deacon Vernal Burrows; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rev Samuel Sands lived every day of the 20th century and had several careers, even after blindness visited him. He served for many years as the pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church and was awarded the British Empire Medal.
SHEILA WALKER-CURTIS
Funeral services for Sheila Walker-Curtis, 35, were held at St Mark's Baptist Church, Crossing Rocks, on 16th February. Officiating was Rev Napoleon Roberts, assisted by Rev Mervin Burrows. Interment followed in the Crossing Rocks Public Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Alexia Curtis; three sons, Alton, Sirvanno and Sheldon; four sisters, Learean Hepburn, Beulah and Sandy Walker, and Ann Coakley; four brothers, Floyd Walker, Charles Walker, Chester Walker and Douglas Walker; four aunts; one uncle; and a host of relatives and friends in both Grand Bahama and Abaco.
