ABACO TOURIST OFFICE UPDATE

Pete and Lindsey Bennett of Bennett Worldwide Productions visited Abaco from 19th-23rd
January. The purpose of their visit was to produce an updated version of the Berlitz
Travel Guide on The Bahamas. This guide is aimed at encouraging tourists to visit
The Bahamas and assist them with where to go and what to see, as well as recommend hotels
and restaurants. This publication has a circulation figure of around 350,000 world
wide. Berlitz is the biggest publisher of travel guides in the world and has an influential effect on tourists looking for vacation assistance. While on Abaco, the Bennetts
had the opportunity to visit Treasure Cay, Marsh Harbour, Hope Town and Guana Cay.
Brenda Chiasson visited Abaco from 22nd-24th January on a BTI Experience Fam Trip
and visited hotels in Marsh Harbour and Guana Cay. Ms Chiasson is a representative
of Crystal River Travel, Florida.
Ms Laura Goodhart, a travel writer from London who was given an assignment by Conference
& Incentive Travel of London, visited Abaco from 29th January-1st February. Ms Goodhart
was here to do an Abaco feature for the upcoming supplement in Marsh on Conference & Incentive Travel in The Bahamas. She had an opportunity to see Marsh Harbour,
Hope Town and Guana Cay during her stay in Abaco.
Mr Massimo Morello, journalist, and Franco Barbagallo, photographer, of TUTTOTURISMO
magazine based out of Italy, visited Abaco from 5th-8th February. This magazine is
the first Italian consumer magazine of tourism with a circulation of 100,000. The
purpose of their trip was to do a report on a comprehensive Bahamas lifestyle such as deep-sea
fishing, underwater activities, charming hotels, Bahamian culture, etc. Elisabetta
Noris of BTO Italy escorted the group.
Mr Taka Kawakami visited Abaco on 7th February, scouting for a location to film a
30 minutes television show on The Bahamas called Platinum Passport which is aired
once a week in Japan. The shoot took place on 16th February.
